Multi-Instrumentalist, Singer-Songwriter, Composer, Arranger, Producer, Music Teacher, has been playing music in the Bay Area for the last fifteen years with upcoming performances in solo and collaborative projects.

 

Chris Newton first began playing guitar at the age of 13.  In high school, he was managing his first bands and writing his own material  with influences  from Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and Stevie Wonder. 

 

In college, Chris began studying music more seriously, learning Jazz with instructors such as Tuck Andress, Randy Vincent, Brian Pardo, Gary Digman and Bennett Friedman. He received his AA in Jazz Studies from Santa Rosa Junior College and his Bachelor's of Music from Sonoma State University.

Chris has taught music in Petaluma elementary schools and Santa Rosa Symphony's Summer Music Academy the last 5 years. He is currently fronting his band Mood Jungle on vocals and guitar.
